Formulation:
A sterile, dark-brown aqueous solution with 20 mg elemental iron per mL as iron(III)-hydroxide sucrose complex. Supplied in 5 mL single-dose vials (containing 100 mg elemental iron)
Used for intravenous iron replacement therapy to treat iron deficiency anemia, particularly in patients with chronic kidney disease, or in individuals who cannot tolerate or have failed oral iron supplementation.

Administered via slow IV injection (over 2–5 minutes) or infusion (15 min to 4 hours).

Typical regimen:

Hemodialysis-dependent CKD: 100 mg per dialysis session, up to 1,000 mg/week divided over 3 sessions.

Non-dialysis CKD: 200 mg IV every other day for up to five doses within 14 days (total 1,000 mg)
