Description & Mechanism:
A synthetic analogue of vasopressin, desmopressin acetate nasal spray delivers 10 µg in 0.1 mL per actuation, available in a 5 mL bottle (50 sprays per pump). It acts on V₂ receptors in the kidneys to promote water reabsorption, reducing excessive urine production.
Used as antidiuretic replacement therapy for managing central (cranial) diabetes insipidus in adults and children aged 4 years and older. Not indicated for nephrogenic diabetes insipidus or primary nocturnal enuresis when nasal delivery is used.
